Austria's sports bike maker, KTM planning to launch its bikeas a joint venture with Bajaj in India. InitiallyKTM will launch Duke 690 in the Indian motorcycle market. KTM Duke 690 will largely be developed at Bajaj’s Chakan, India plant and will be marketed through Bajaj’s Probiking showrooms. The Duke 690 has a 654cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 65bhp power at 7500rpm. Compared to other multi-cylinder super sport bikes, 65 horsepower certainly doesn't sound like much. The powerful engine of KTM Duke 690 make it able to achieve the top speed of 190km/h. The KTM Duke 690 has equipped with a steel tube trellis frame, six-speed gearbox, and 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.KTM Duke 690 is priced at 6,195.00 GBP (Great Britain Pounds) in the U.K, which is equivalent to Rs. 475,000.
KTM Duke 690 was displayed at the Auto Expo 2008. The Bajaj guys who present this bike there, told that the Duke 690 and the RC8would be the bikes from KTM that should make it to the Bajaj Probiking Showrooms soon.
