Royal Enfield had an outstanding record of success in the International Six Days’ Trial, acknowledged as the longest and most strenuous of all motorcycle competitions, during the glory years for British riders, between 1948-1953. Designed to capture the sprit of the ‘unstoppable Bullet’ in a package that will be comfortable to ride on today’s roads, The Trials gets the new fuel-injected unit construction engine for 2009.

Lazy leaky machines, which require loads of maintainance.. but a lot has changed over the years. Remember how the Thunderbird 350 took us by storm? 
Well, for enthusiasts like us, Royal Enfield finally got a 500cc version with left gears and right brake, the new Machismo 500 LB (LB stands for Lean Burn technology). The bike was launched in June 2007 and sells for Rs 1,05,000 (on road price) in India, which is around US$2560 including taxes. May not seem bad, but then in India, we get much quicker 220cc bikes, with lot more technology and reliability for 15-20% less price.

2009 Royal Enfield Bullet Classic

Royal Enfield launched a new 500cc version Bullet, called the Bullet Classic at the Intermot show recently. The new 2009 Bullet Classic has to be the best machine to roll out of the Chennai factory plant ever. 



The new Bullet Classic has a nostalgic appeal - the design, single seat, exhaust angle. The bike comes with a 499cc single cylinder air cooled engine with fuel injection which churns out 27.2bhp of power. Yes, that may sound 'weak' but then this has to be the most powerful Bullet from the company ever. Torque rating stands at 41.3Nm. The bike is supposed to hit top speeds in excess of 80mph or 128km/h (true).
